Our journey of a thousand miles began with the first step. More than 14 years ago, we set up an office at the peak of Kuala Lumpur, housed at No. 19, Wisma UOA II, Jalan Pinang, next to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. We pledged to be a professional and reliable ISO certification enabler, and today, CI Malaysia, is highly regarded as a highly professional certification body that able to add values and strengthen the management systems of business organizations and government agencies in Malaysia through our assessment, certification and training services.
Founded by Mr Ooi Soo Kang, the Director/ Country Manager at that time, reported to Mr James Thomas Pymer, the Group Chairman of Socotec Certification International (United Kingdom) Limited, as CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd started its operation in Malaysia on 2 May 2000.
The principle Company, CIUK started its operation in early 1990, currently operates in 25 countries with 17 offices over the world, including Japan, China, India, Phillipine, and Singapore. CIUK was acquired by a conglomerate, SOCOTEC in late 2012.
In 2003, CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd received its accreditation by Department of Standard Malaysia (DSM) to provide “Standard Malaysia” accredited ISO9001 quality management system certification.
The “Standard Malaysia” accreditation was extended to ISO14001 environmental management system in 2006.
In between middle 2007- 2008, CI Malaysia operating its rented office at Wisma Bumi Raya, Jalan Raya Laut, Kuala Lumpur.
In 2008, CI Certifcation Malaysia Sdn Bhd changes its name to CI International Certification Sdn Bhd.
In 2009, CI Malaysia purchased and moved to its own office lot at No.37-4, Jalan SP 2/2, Serdang Perdana, Selangor, which houses its current operating office.
The first customer certified by CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd was Kossan Paint Sdn Bhd. With an effective ISO9001: 2000/2008 implemented by Kossan Paint and assessed by CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd, we have seen their growth from less than 10 people to a staff force of now exceeding 140 people, from a small factory manufactured wet paint to a big and new factory now located at Jalan Kapar, Klang, with its extended product, powder coating. This is a model testimonial on how an effective quality management system can strengthen the root of a business and helps the business grow stronger and bigger over the years.
Between 2000-2014, CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd has issued over 400 accredited certificates (both UKAS and Standard Malaysia) exceeding 750 organisations (as some certifications are multiple organizations), mainly in Malaysia, albeit some in Maldive, Indonesia, Philipine and Thailand. The main industry segments awarded certificates by CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd are construction industries and government agencies, albeit the certification coverage includes manufacturing, oil and gas companies, trading companies, direct sales, retailers, beautician (e.g. Clara International) and hospitals (e.g. Hospital Pusrawi at Jalan Tun Razak).
The prominent government agencies in Malaysia certified by CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd/ CIUK are FELDA (Federal Land Development Authority) (the scope of certification covers the whole country oil palm plantation and rubber estate Schemes/ Rancangan and community development for FELDA settlers, over 317 locations with scope exceeding 3500 employees in the country. FELDA is the biggest Oil Palm plantations in Malaysia), Social Welfare Department/ Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) (cover the whole countries state JKM offices and district offices PKMD over 119 locations with scope exceeding 4000 employees), Attorney General Offices/ Jabatan Peguam Negara) (4 divisions including Laws Drafting Division, Trial and Appeal Division, International Affairs Division and Law Reform Division), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (IMS ISO14001/ OHSAS18001/ ISO9001, over 48 locations of National Parks and Natural Reserves and Timber Research Institute in Sarawak, East of Borneo), Kuantan City Council (over 1250 employee), Klang City Country (over 1300 employees), Khazanah (Malaysian Government investment arm), Ministry of Education (Text Book Division), Ministry of Defence (MLTD), etc.
CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd/ CIUK had also certified many prominent architect firms such as Veritas Architect Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Senireka Sdn Bhd (e.g. projects on King Palace, Hospital Sungai Buloh, etc.), Arkitek Jururancang Malaysia Sdn Bhd (projects KLCC, part of KLIA 20 years ago, KL Convention Center, etc.) and consulting engineering firms such as Jurutera Perunding Zaaba Sdn Bhd, TY Lin International (SEA) Sdn Bhd (projects includes KL Pavillion, and many commercial buildings in KL), T & T Konsult Sdn Bhd, Erinco Sdn Bhd, and contractor such as Trans Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd, TLS Construction Sdn Bhd, etc.
CI Certification Malaysia Sdn Bhd pledge to be awarded the Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) status by Medical Device Authority (MDA) of Ministry of Health Malaysia to conduct assessment and certification of ISO13485: 2003 for medical device manufacturers and Good Distribution Practices for Medical Devices (GDPMD) for medical devices authorised representatives, importers and distributors in Malaysia by 2014.
