Office in Focus – Turkey

In this newsletter, our office in focus is Turkey. Zuhal Copuroglu, Certification Manager at Certification International Turkey, talks about how the office has grown since joining the Group.

CIcert Belgelendirme Hizmetleri Ltd. Şti. was established in 2002, with the aim of providing management system auditing, certification and training. İn 2003, the company became the Turksih representative of Certification International.

The office has continued to grow as part of the Certification International Group and offers a variety of services including; Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008, Environmental Management System ISO 14001:2004, Occupational Health &  Safety  Management System 18001:2007, Integrated Management Systems, Food Safety Management System ISO 22000:2005, Information Security System ISO 27001:2005,Customer Complaints Handling Management System ISO 10002:2004.

The most popular standard in Turkey remains ISO 9001: 2008, the Quality Management System standard, because it is well known by everyone. But demand is increasing for other management systems.
In accordance with regulations of the European Union, OHSAS 18001 and 14001 certificates will grow in importance. And the energy management system ISO 50001 standard will be popular in the coming years as new regulations were recently published on this subject in Turkey, thus increasing awareness and demand. ISO 28000 specification for security management systems for the supply chain and ISO 31000 risk management standards are also becoming more popular amongst our clients.

Due to laws in Turkey, in order to work with public companies, TURKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) accredited certificates are required. Many customers requested TURKAK accredited certificate from Certification International Turkey. Our accreditation audit was conducted in December, and from March 2013 the office will have TURKAK accreditation to meet client demand, and it will also increase our new business opportunities.

As well as third party assessment, we organise public training on management systems and standards. In 2012 our office organised two training sessions to educate clients about ISO 31000 risk management. They were well attended and we will be organising more sessions in the near future. For example, we are introducing ISO 50001 standard as a new standard to our clients so we will organise a session to inform clients about the standard and what it means for their business.

For us, being part of Certification International evokes a strong commitment to safety, quality, and concern for the environment. All management system certificates are equal. But  benefit is not equal. Certification International offers more than a ticket to trade. When partnering with us, clients begin a journey towards business improvement, and ultimately business excellence. Our goal is to conduct value-added audits according to the accreditation and standard requirements. This is our biggest strength and the reason of many companies choose us.
